Jumping on the bandwagon...

We have a blog!  I know I'm entirely jumping on the bandwagon here, but I thought it would be nice to document our TTC (trying to conceive) journey.

Where to start?  Well, I'm Melissa, and my husband is Mike.  We have been together since November of 2005, and got married on April 18, 2009.  We live in Madison, WI with our kitties Rufus and Layla.  I'm from outside of Boston and Mike is from outside of Philly.  We both went to Villanova and were transplanted out in Wisconsin when Mike started grad school out here.

I came off of birth control at the end of August after 10 years on it.  I was not at all prepared for the hormonal hot mess I've become after stopping.  I swear sometimes I feel bad for Mike.  I just get crabby and irritable for no apparent reason.  I pick stupid fights and cry for no reason.  Did I become a teenager again?  I have been fortunate enough to ovulate every cycle since I stopped (I've been charting for three full cycles now), but no luck in the baby department yet.

During our second cycle, my Mother-in-Law was staying with us and we didn't want to do anything while she was staying with us, so we sort of sat the cycle out.  Last cycle (our third), Mike got the swine flu a few days before I ovulated.  Perfect.  Do you ever feel like God doesn't want you to have a baby?  It's just so sad to have such random events perfectly timed so that you don't really get a good shot at conceiving.

I realize the next couple cycles might not be any better since the swine flu likely killed a large percentage of Mike's sperm.  Thanks a lot, H1N1...you're a skank.

That pretty much brings us up to speed.  Today is CD (cycle day) 3.  Nitey nite!
