Happy Mother's Day to my Mom

Happy Mother's Day to all of the Moms, Moms-to-be, Moms of angels, and those wanting to be Moms out there!  I hope you feel celebrated and appreciated, as you deserve to be, since you are all goddesses.  Seriously.  Have a fantastic day :)

I will write about my own Mother's Day tomorrow.  Right now, this post is for my Mom.

Mom, my sister (left), Mama G (right)
Mommy (aka Mubbins),
We have always had a fantastic relationship, and I could not be more thankful. I have the most amazing memories of baking chocolate chip cookies, playing with My Little Ponies, and building sand castles at the beach with you when I was young.  There are so many things I remember and cherish.

I honestly don't know how you did it.  Having 3 kids under the age of 4 is hard enough, but you did it when Daddy was finishing up school, and you didn't really have any help from family or friends.  Am I right in remembering that Daddy temporarily lost his job around this time, too?  I think most women would have gone crazy!

I look back on later years in awe of you.  We had mental health issues, suicide attempts, Shannyn's death, and my rape.  How did you hold it together?  You never stopped loving and supporting us through it all, no matter how much pain we (or the situation) caused you.  I wish I could go back in time and give you a big hug and tell you that everything-- and us, would all turn out okay.  Whenever I'm having a particularly rough day, I try to think about how you would handle the situation...with strength and grace, and I'm able to power through.

Today, you are highly successful in your career, despite having stayed home with us for a number of years.  You have a happy marriage of 30 years (soon!) and a great relationship with your daughters and grandchildren.  You are my role model. You taught me that you really can be Super Mom and have it all.  Everyone says we are so much alike, that I "am" you, and I love it, because I can't think of a greater compliment.

I love you more than words could say.

Mama G (aka Melizabeffums)

P.S.  I'm sort of famous! I was asked to participate in drugfree.org's Mother's Day slideshow, featuring a handful of Mommy bloggers.  There's a picture of me when I was pregnant, and another of me with Carina.  Check out the slideshow!

Aww... Sounds like your mom really is pretty fantastic. I'm sure she feels pretty lucky to have such a great daughter (or daughters). Not everyone has that kind of relationship so it's really beautiful to see.

Aww!! I'll tell you what a mother's love knows no boundaries. I don't care how many Hallmark cards might have said it before.
I am so grateful for my mother.
