mahu baby skincare - Review & Giveaway! CLOSED

Carina has very sensitive skin and we always have a hard time finding body wash, shampoo, and lotion that doesn't irritate it. Even the most recent all-natural organic brand we tried left her with redness and hives. Poor baby :(

Due to her delicate skin and the general fear of a repeat of the above, I am usually hesitant to try new skincare products. I had, however, heard great things about the mahu baby skincare line from New Zealand that was just recently launched in the US, and figured we could give it a try.

Designed by midwives, mahu is New Zealand's leading natural and botanical skincare system for Moms and babies, throughout pregnancy and beyond. mahu has taken potentially harmful ingredients out of their products, and replaced them with vitamin and omega rich botanic ingredients specific to the needs of Mothers and babies. All mahu products are made in New Zealand from locally harvested native plant-life, contain 100% natural ingredients, and are devoid of chemicals such as phtalates, parabens, and sulfates.

The mahu baby skincare line includes Baby Bath, Body Wash & Shampoo, Moisturizer, Massage Oil, Body Lotion, and Diaper Cream. We received the mahu Baby Bath, Body Wash & Shampoo and mahu Baby Body Lotion to try out. We have been using both for a month now and are happy to report that Carina has not experienced any averse reactions! I love the light, fresh lavender scent of both the body wash and lotion, and they get the job done! Carina is clean, moisturized, and happy. She also has taken quite a liking to the body wash bottle itself. It's her new favorite tub toy.

Carina, you're not supposed to eat it ;)
Please don't worry. I don't actually let her eat it, and she is always supervised! mahu Baby Bath, Body Wash & Shampoo is soap and sulfate free and contains Lavender and Chamomile to help soothe and calm baby before bed. We use it as body wash, face wash, and shampoo. I really appreciate using one bottle for all three. It makes baths much easier to not have to reach for three separate products while your squirmy baby is trying to turn on the shower. Carina has gotten the body wash in her eyes a number of times and yay! It doesn't bother her at all.

mahu Baby Body Lotion is a lavender scented body lotion that is absorbed quickly into baby's skin, and does not feel greasy or heavy. It works very well in keeping the rough skin on Carina's sides moisturized and conditioned. Ingredients include: Sweet Almond Oil, Linseed (flaxseed) oil, New Zealand Manuka Honey, Calendula, Lavender, and Chamomile. In addition to it's moisturizing qualities, mahu claims its Body Lotion can be used to help treat anxiety, restlessness, poor digestion, colic and aid in healthy sleep. We didn't attempt to use it for any of these ailments just yet, so unfortunately I cannot speak to its efficacy in treating them at this time, but I'm sure we will be giving it a shot in the near future. Carina's sleep is getting a little erratic these days, unfortunately.

In all, we really like mahu baby products and would definitely recommend them for anyone who is looking for natural, effective, and great smelling skincare for baby.
