Coming to you live and embarrassed from the husband's computer

If I had to describe my day in one word, it would be "fail".  In one sentiment, this would be it:

We had planned to head downtown for the Farmer's Market and an organ concert at the Overture center this morning, but as soon as we packed up the diaper bag to leave the heavens opened up and on came a downpour.  It didn't clear up until almost evening, so we just stayed home and had a lazy day inside.

That was until I made the egregious mistake of leaving my coffee mug next to the laptop while Carina was sitting on my lap.  In one swipe, my laptop keyboard was treated to a warm bath in Caribou Coffee's signature Caribou blend.  My first thought was "crap, that was the last of the coffee pot!" and then I quickly realized that the coffee was headed straight for the innards of my computer.  So I turned it off, took out the battery, and it's still airing out in the (maybe vain) hope that it will work again.  If you're the praying kind, please pray that my Asus P50IJ makes a full and speedy recovery.

As if that wasn't bad enough, M needed to spend an afternoon in the lab so he headed out just before 2 PM.  When I heard the key turn in the lock about 5 minutes after he left I asked myself, "great, what did he forget now?" (as M tends to be just a tad extremely forgetful).  Frustrated, he exclaimed that the car wouldn't start: the battery was dead.  I was about to start yelling at him when it came to me that I was the last one to drive the car.  I drove it home from work yesterday...somehow I must have deemed the headlights to be a necessity when it was bright and sunny at 4:30 PM?  Ugggh.  Sorry, M, no lab for you.  By the time we could find someone to jump the car it wasn't worth it for him to go in.

So today, I fail.  I precariously place a tall mug of coffee next to my computer while playing with baby, and I forget to turn off the headlights that I didn't even need in the first place.  I am feeling great about myself tonight, folks.  I think I better mail it in before I trip in the shower or blow up something in the microwave.  Good night.
