iMelt

Okay, an apology is necessary. That's the lamest post title ever.

While snapping a couple photos of Carina snuggling up with Mike yesterday, I noticed a trend amongst my iPhone pics...

Snuggling and napping with Daddy is easily one of our favorite things to do, and it has been since our first day home from the hospital (above). OMG, squishy squishy newborn. I can't believe we'll have another in about 4 months time.

Any trends in your phone photos?

Daddy's shoulders & Aurelia's nerdy namesake

A couple weeks ago we headed to the Mystic Aquarium with my sister and her family. Despite growing up less than a couple hours away from Mystic, CT, we had never been! Carina spent much of the time on Daddy's shoulders, or running around yelling, "hi fishy!"

What are you looking at?
Aurelia jellyfish
I actually didn't know there was a such thing as "Aurelia" jellyfish until one of Mike's friends pointed it out after we announced her name. At least they're pretty jellyfish, right? I love that she will have a nerdy namesake, just like her sister.

Do your little ones have anything cool or geeky that they are "named after"?

Who doesn't love rolling around in dirty socks?

The first time that Carina came toddling out into the living room with the delicates bag full of dirty socks (that we hang on her hamper), I took it from her and brought it back into the nursery. "No Carina," I told her, "we don't play with dirty socks."

A few minutes later she emerged again with socks in tow. Since it was pretty clear there was no stopping her, I let her be. While they wouldn't be my plaything of choice for her, they certainly can't do any harm. I was not prepared for what happened next.

Who doesn't want to roll around in dirty socks and throw them all about the room?

Helping Daddy!

Mike prepped the garden last week so we could plant some of our tomato and pepper seedlings. For a number of years we grew plants on our apartment balcony in window boxes. This year is the first time we actually have a yard to plant in!

Carina wanted to help. And by help, I of course mean throwing dirt everywhere and attempting to eat rocks ;)

Who else is gardening this year? What are you growing?

The eyes say it all

I swear my child can communicate her thoughts and feelings with one glance, or glare.

With furrowed brows, or wide, bright eyes.

They themselves smile or laugh, or simply say "enough, Mom".

These were all taken at my parents house on Easter. I think a few of them make quite a funny contrast to the oh-so-happy and excited pictures of the Easter Egg Hunt the same day.

Does your little one have a signature look or glare? Carina's furrowed brows have become legendary within our families ;)

I'm alive! (and I want to make love to my new toy)

After a whirlwind 10 days, we are unpacking and getting settled into our new Connecticut home. It is SO FANTASTIC to be back in New England. The horrible street layouts, use of "wicked" as an adverb, and warmer (lol!) temperatures have me downright giddy.

I have so much to share with you about the logistics of the move, my breastmilk's excellent adventure, and how I almost had a nervous breakdown due to the temporary misplacement of my security blanket, but for now unpacking awaits me!

So you'll have to settle for some photos of Carina taken with my brand new Canon Rebel T3. It was M's "graduation" gift to me - that is, my gift for supporting him through 5 years of grad school ;)

I haven't had time to figure out how to do anything fancy yet, so here are a few "out-of-the-box" shots. I am in love.

Don't mind the drool ;)
