Our new routine

Phew. I'm tired. Today was my first day going to work since August of 2011. For the next 3 months, our days will go like this:

Wake at 6 AM: get dressed, pour some coffee, empty dishwasher. Nurse Aurelia when she wakes up around 6:30, and get girls changed. Have family breakfast, which usually consists of fruit and yogurt.

Head to work at 7:15 AM. Try to look like I know what I'm doing (okay, just kidding) until I pump at 10 AM. Grab some lunch around Noon, pump again at 2 PM.

Get home at 5 PM and enjoy lots of snuggles. Play, start dinner, eat, give girls baths, nurse Aurelia, bedtime stories and then to bed I said, around 7:15 PM.

Dishes, laundry, e-mail, {possibly} blogging, {probably} wine, a little TV with Mike and to bed by 10:30 PM 11 PM 11:30 PM. But really, I need help getting to bed earlier because Momma is TIRED.

This post was supposed to have pictures...but I forgot. And I'm too exhausted to care. Today was hard -- more on that later. For now I think I need to get some sleep.

This week's Toddle Along Tuesday topic is A Day in the Life! Tell us about your day...the usual, or a special one. Share your schedule, photos, whatever! There are no rules here, except that you link up a relevant post (old or new) rather than your whole blog.

Toddle Along Tuesday - Day in the Life

Our typical day starts with Carina waking around 7 AM. M brings her into our room and lays her next to me in bed. She nurses and I'd say about 75% of the time she will fall asleep for at least another half hour. Mommy enjoys this little catnap, too. Then we get out of bed and she plays in her PJs while I prepare any number of different breakfast foods in the {sometimes vain} hopes that she'll eat at least one.

We go out at least a few times a week. Today, we met our friends at the park for a playdate. Before we left she escaped from me while I was changing her. I found her like this. She doesn't like to watch TV often, but when she does, this is her preferred means of enjoying it.

On our way to the park, Carina somehow managed to spill more than half of her sippy of water on herself. When I took her out of the carseat it looked like she had wet her jeans - front & back. Luckily I had a spare pair of sweatpants in the diaper bag. Despite being Carters size 9 Months, they actually fit her. Good for us at that moment, but a sad realization for Mommy. We had a lot of fun at the park, but she quickly became tired in the 80+ degree weather. That's rare for Connecticut in April.

She fell asleep on the way home and napped for a little longer at home. On a good day her naps are almost 2 hours. On a bad day they are 45 minutes. On average they are a little over an hour. During her morning naps I get something to eat, shower, spend time on the internet, and watch the news. When she woke up we had some lunch and spent the better part of the afternoon playing inside and outside, and trying to get her to eat all the while. She usually takes an afternoon nap, although lately she has been skipping it every few days. Mommy is happy to report that she napped for about an hour this afternoon :) Her afternoon naps are when I start getting dinner ready and {maybe} clean a little bit. (And yep, those are boxes in the background. Still not done unpacking yet!)

She starts showing signs of sleepiness around 6, which is usually when M returns home from work. Most of the time I have dinner ready, but today I was feeling pretty sick and it just didn't happen. So M stepped in and made pasta with a sweet pepper tomato sauce, and we ate right around 6:30. Then we whisked the peanut into her room to change her, nurse her, and put her to sleep. Most days we'll read a bedtime story but tonight we got a little bit of a late start on bedtime so she was pretty fussy and we opted to skip it. She was asleep by 7:20, a bit later than usual.

After she heads to bed I take care of the dishes, and then unwind. This involves blogging, some TV, dessert, chatting with M, reading, and bed - often in that order. I've been trying to be asleep by 10:30 since becoming pregnant, but it doesn't always happen. I keep promising myself I will get to bed earlier and I keep breaking that promise ;)

Well, it's a bit different from the Day in the Life I posted back in September! I can't believe how much bigger Carina is now, wow.

My co-host for Toddle Along Tuesday this week is Katie from Love, Lattes & Lullabies and the topic is A Day in the Life. Share what a typical day is like for you in prose, pictures, videos, whatever you like! There are no rules, except that you link up a relevant post (old or new) rather than your whole blog.

Next week's topic is What's in your Diaper Bag. Show us your diaper bag and what you keep in it!

A Day in the Life

Jill over at Baby Rabies had a fantastic idea. Why not capture an ordinary day in photos?

We so often take picture after picture when we are on vacation, when our children reach a special milestone, or if we see something particularly beautiful.  But we don't whip our cameras out to document the every day happenings: as a trip to the grocery store, a walk in the stroller, or just "hanging out".  Until now.

Here's a typical day in my life.

6:30 - Carina is awake and snuggles with a sleepy Daddy while I go to the bathroom.

7:30 - She hangs out in our bed surrounded by pillows on all sides (so she doesn't roll off of said bed) while I get dressed.

8:30 - I enjoy some coffee and an english muffin for breakfast while she naps.

9:30 - Carina is up from her nap and stops nursing for a moment to smile up at me.

10:30 - Having so much fun in the shopping cart at the grocery store!
11:30 - All these groceries need to be put away, blah. Yes, those are potatoes in the storage section of the stroller.

12:30 - Carina wakes up from her nap
1:30 - Getting ready to go to a playdate with our new playgroup!

2:30 - At the arboretum with a handful of other Mommas for our playdate. We actually got lost and had to do some stroller off-roading for a while. It was gorgeous out.
3:30 - Carina got sleepy and I took her out of the stroller and put her in the carrier. This is looking straight down at her.

4:30 - Quality time with the kitties. That's Rufus.
5:30 - Our $5 Halloween costume arrived! Carina models it. I think she makes a darn cute Meerkat.
6:30 - In our sleepy sack and it's time for bed. Carina wants to suck on the Octopus bath thermometer. Silly girl.

7:30 - M is at a lab meeting, so I am enjoying a Sam Adams by myself. I don't think you can see it in the photo, but the Itzbeen timer says that Carina has been asleep for 45 minutes at this point :)

8:30 - Since my supply has been decreasing lately, I am pumping again in hopes of stepping it up!

9:30 - He is finally home from lab meeting! We enjoy some side-by-side computer time. In other words, I write this post.

10:30 - Dishes and other chores, then off to bed!

Well there you have it, folks. An ordinary day in the life of Mama G. Please leave a comment with your link if you participated in the challenge!
